In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Meet this week's featured Pet Pal, Boks!

Boks is a 2-year-old mixed breed dog who is currently looking for his forever home. He is described as a sweet and affectionate dog who loves to play and cuddle. Boks has interacted well with both kids and other dogs at the shelter. You can always bring your human and four-legged kiddos in for playdate to ensure a good fit. If you’d like to adopt, you Boks can visit him at the Dallas Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day between noon and 6 p.m.

Meet Gabby-Gabby! This pup is so cute you have to say her name twice! Gabby-Gabby is a mixed breed dog who is expected to be over 50 pounds when fully grown. She has a very soft coat of black fur and adorable little puppy dog eyes, a real cutie! She’s 30 pounds now and only 5 months old. She’s the perfect playful puppy; with lots of snuggling, kisses and goofy galivanting. Underneath that goofiness is a very intelligent little lady who loves to explore and learn new things all the time. Gabby-Gabby is waiting for her forever family at the SPCA of Texas Ellis County Animal Care Center. https://spca.org/adoptable/woody/

Meet Red! This is one of the most chill dogs in the shelter. He’s an Australian Cattle Dog mix who weighs 50 pounds and is just over 5 years of age now. Red’s a good guy all the way around. He’s friendly and affectionate and a very well-behaved young man. He’s well past the silly puppy stage, but he still likes to get out into the play yard for some exercise and exploration. He’s a great leash walker to venture out of the yard with too. Red gets along well with the other dogs in the shelter, and seems to be a good fit for kiddos too. He is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/red/

Meet Mr. Freckles! It only takes one look at his big, goofy grin and you know this is a fun dog to have around. Mr. Freckles is a Pointer mix who is 4 years old and weighs in at 65 pounds. He is covered in a spotted white coat with brown patches. He loves to make new friends and hang out with humans, whom he finds very amusing. While he is a large and energetic pooch, Mr. Freckles is reported to have some of the best leash-walking skills ever. At the end of the day, he’ll be more than happy to snuggle up for movie night. Mr. Freckles is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/mr-freckles/

Meet Mr. Tibbs!

Meet Mr. Tibbs! He is one beautiful l’il gato waiting for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Mr. Tibbs is a domestic shorthair mix with a jet-black coat and twinkling eyes. He’s just over 2 years old now and weighs a light 9 pounds. He is very energetic by cat, even by cat standards; and his rambunctious antics are most entertaining. He is hoping to find a very cat savvy owner who can give him a little time and space to acclimate to a new environment. Mr. Tibbs currently has a condo in the cat rotunda at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet him in person. https://spca.org/adoptable/mr-tibbs/

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
