In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, Newsradio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlight the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Brandy is a six-year-old, 56 pound, female Pit Bull Terrier mix who has a sweet soul and a heart of gold. She came in from a rescue and has had quite a journey of healing, however, her gentle nature and loving personality shine brighter than the sun. She is easy going and calm, and would do best in a home where she can be the only dog in the home. She prefers the spotlight all to herself. Brandy loves all the people she meets, so please bring the whole family to come meet her before you adopt. She is at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet her. Just come on by 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day of the week between noon and 6 p.m.

Meet Lola!

She is an older lady at 11 years of age, and she would like to find her forever home with people who will love her. She is an Australian Shepherd mix with fiery red hair and a white underside. She has big puppy dog eyes and a smile that will definitely charm you. She is not that big at only 44 pounds, and she isn’t very fussy either, she’d be happy to go to any responsible home that will love and care for her. She is needing some dental surgery coming up, so Lola is available as a foster-to-adopt. That way the SPCA of Texas will cover all the costs of her needed medical care. All that’s needed from you is care and love.

Meet Coco!

Meet Coco! She is a Terrier mix who is also over 10 years of age and hoping to land in a forever home soon. She is a bigger dog at 51 pounds. She has light tan fur and huge brown eyes. She doesn’t ask for much in this world, just a good spot for napping and a human who loves and cares for her. She is completely housetrained and described by her foster as “an all-around good girl.” She loves to go for walks and gets very excited when her people come home. Coco is currently in foster care, so an advanced appointment is necessary to meet her. Find her profile at SPCA.org/dogs and click the “Make an Appointment” button and make it happen for Coco!

Meet Winston!

Meet Winston! He is a Shepherd mix who weighs in at 57 pounds and is 10 years and 2 months old. Winston is a very handsome dog with fluffy hair and a black and tan coat with a little bit of white around the snoot. Winston is good on a leash and enjoys getting out for walks. On the other hand, he is also quite the couch potato at times too. He has always been pretty easy-going. In his former home he got along quite well with other dogs, small children and even cats. Winston isn’t too picky about his forever home, he just wants to be safe, well cared-for, and most importantly, loved. Winston is at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet him.

Meet Rose!

Meet Rose! She is the most senior of all this week’s adoptable pets at 12 years and 4 months of age. She is a good-sized cat at 11 pounds and she is covered in orange and white fur. She has big, wondering kitty-cat eyes and a chill disposition. Like many cats, it may take Rose a minute or two to warm up to a new person, but once that is done Rose shows her true colors as a very sweet cat. Her “dream home” isn’t too demanding of an ask. She just wants to live out her days in a place with a comfy bed and a caring family. She is located at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet her in person.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
