In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Bubby is a 6-year-old male Pit Bull mix. His sweet temperament and gentle playfulness will get your attention, and his stunning eyes will melt your heart. He can be wiggly at times, but also loves to snuggle. My name is Bubby and I am sweet as can be! I am a wiggly pup who just wants to make some new friends. He was treated for heartworms, so he will need a calm home to relax in due to being under exercise restriction while he heals from his treatment for just a little while. This means he will need to be a couch potato and go for short leash walks only! Don’t worry, when you come adopt him, the staff at the SPCA of Texas will let you know when he can go back to daily walks and exercise. He adores people but may be a little shy around other dogs. Please bring any current dogs in your home and any human kids out to meet him to make sure everyone is a great fit. He’ll be waiting for you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day between the hours of noon and 6 p.m.

Meet Sindi!

Meet Sindi! She is one sweet little girl who is hoping for a forever home – or at least a foster – soon from the SPCA of Texas. Sindi is a Terrier, American Pit Bull mix who weighs in at 58 pounds. She has a classy beige coat, sparkling eyes and a big ‘ole Pittie grin. Sindi loves the people she knows but can be kind of nervous around new folks. She is available as a foster-to-adopt or foster because she is awaiting orthopedic surgery which will be taken care of by the SPCA of Texas. She will be on exercise restrictions for a bit, but after that she should be good to go and ready to be a first class family pet.

Meet Fonzi!

Meet Fonzi! He’s a really cool guy. He can’t snap his fingers, but he can deliver a charming twinkle from those puppy dog eyes. Fonzi is a 9-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed pooch who weighs 51 pounds. He has a solid coat of brown fur and a lean, muscular frame. He is a calm dog but get him out in the yard and you’ll discover he has a playful side as well. Fonzi is quite the agreeable fellow, but he is also deaf. He will need to be trained with non-verbal commands, but he’s definitely worth the extra effort. Fonzi can be visited any day between noon and 6 p.m. at theJan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center.

Meet Taz!

Meet Taz! He is a 3-year-old Terrier, Pit Bull mix hoping to find a forever family at the SPCA of Texas. Taz is an athletic doggie at 62 pounds. He is covered with a dappled coat of brown and black fur with a little bit of white underneath and on the snoot. Taz loves to get out to the yard and play, whether that is with other dogs or people. He’s not picky. The most important thing for Taz is to find a home with a securely fenced backyard or a people parent who will make sure he gets his much-needed exercise. Taz is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him.

Meet Athens and Austin!

Meet Athens and Austin! These two siblings are waiting for a forever home at the cat rotunda inside the SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center. These two brothers are pair-bonded, which means they need to go home together. They came to the SPCA of Texas as transfers in from another shelter in order to get a better chance to keep them together. These two brothers are a lot of fun, snuggling up together or with their favorite people. While they do practice normal kitty caution their demeanor is good (they have even managed to deal well with dogs in the past) and they are ready to be great companions.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
