In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
Meet this week's featured Pet Pal,

Meet Lucky! He is one handsome chap looking for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Lucky has all kinds of mixed breeds going on, and he thinks it makes him somewhat of a renaissance man. He weighs 60 pounds and is covered with a tan coat and a white underside. He is nearing 8 years of age and cannot wait to finally settle down. He came to the SPCA of Texas as part of an animal cruelty case in Van Zandt County. He is hoping for a calm home, a nice yard, and a family with all members over 15 years of age. He is in foster care now, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him.

Meet Pugas!

Meet Pugas! Yes, she has a very unusual name, but she is an unusually cute little lady! Pugas is a mixed breed dog who weighs 41 pounds and is covered with a golden coat of fur. She has a big smile and twinkling eyes that will just charm you to pieces. She is 4-and-a-half years old and chock full of zoomie energy. She is affectionate, especially after a few tasty treats line up the pathway to BFF heaven. She also loves to get out into play groups with other dogs, so she might make a good second pet. She is housed at the SPCA of Texas shelter at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas, so no appointment is necessary.
Meet Pascal!

Meet Pascal! Just look at those big, beautifully piercing brown eyes! He is a Labrador Retriever mix who weighs 69 pounds and is covered in a classic coat of jet-black fur. Pascal is a very sweet fellow with a gentle disposition, though he tends to be a little timid and unsure of himself when meeting new people for the first time. A little bit of patience and a few tasty treats can go a long way in bringing out his sincere personality. He’s a great pick for big dog lovers, and he is at 2400 Lone Star Drive, so no appointment is necessary to come out and meet him in person.
Meet Nessie!

Meet Nessie! She is a beautiful little Domestic Shorthair mix with an amazing tortoise shell coat. She has big, wondering cat eyes that are constantly scanning and exploring the world. Nessie is a timid cat, and she will probably be a bit shy at first meeting. She is really hoping to go to a calm and serene home so she can have an easier time acclimating to her new environment. She absolutely needs to go to a home where there is another cat who can show her the ropes. She’d prefer that all kids in the home be at least 15 years of age. She is housed at the SPCA of Texas’ flagship shelter at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas.
KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.
