In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Meet Kitty 1 and Kitty 2!

These two precious kittens are just a few weeks old and came to the SPCA of Texas to immediately find a foster so they can grow big enough to be spayed or neutered and put up for adoption. When you become a Foster Hero for the SPCA of Texas, you provide one animal (or a litter!) with a comfortable, loving home while they get ready for or await adoption, plus open a space at the shelter for another animal. The SPCA of Texas will supply everything you need to foster your new furry friend. You just bring the LOVE! To learn more about becoming a foster.

Meet Keifer!

Meet Kiefer! He’s a really good boy who just sort of lost his way for a bit. Brought in as a stray from Ellis County, Kiefer is a golden-haired mixed breed dog of 52 pounds. He is only a bit over a year old now, and he has quite the adorable puppy face set against that large frame. Kiefer is housed at the SPCA of Texas Ellis Animal Care Center in Waxahachie, where the staff reports Kiefer is quite the curious little fellow. He seems to be OK around other dogs and kids, so bring everyone down to the shelter to meet him. The Ellis facility is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m.

Meet Bella!

Meet Bella! She is an amazing little Pittie mix available for adoption from the SPCA of Texas. Bella is already quite the success story. She came to the SPCA of Texas from a large animal cruelty seizure in Henderson County. When she arrived she was extremely shy. Nowadays, she is a lot friendlier and outgoing. She is 5-and-a-half years old and is a bigger girl at 53 pounds. She loves to run, so a securely fenced backyard would be amazing, but she would be a good apartment doggie too for an active owner. She is housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet her.

Meet Fenchie!

Meet Fenchie! This girl is all kinds of fun. She is a 47-pound mixed breed dog with one of the biggest smiles in North Texas. She came into the SPCA of Texas originally in 2020 after being seized from a vehicle by the City of Dallas. She was adopted out but brought back 3 years later with a mass that needed to be removed. She has undergone extensive medical care from the SPCA of Texas and is now looking for a new forever home. The shelter staff is constantly entertained by Fenchie and her snorts, snores and other adorable little noises. She is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary.

Meet Kiwi!

Meet Kiwi! Kiwi can throw a sour glance every once in a while, but the truth is she is about as sweet as she can be. Kiwi is a 7-pound Domestic Shorthair mix with a gorgeous tan and grey coat. She is an affectionate kitty and likes to play with people and toys. She does well with other cats, in fact she came in with more than a dozen of them. They have all been adopted now and she is waiting her turn anxiously. Kiwi does have some allergies that need to be addressed occasionally, but she is a great cat companion. She is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
