The big earthquake that shook West Texas on November 16th isn't over yet. John Bellini with the US Geological Survey says there have been some 50 aftershocks following the 5.4 magnitude earthquake.

The quake's epicenter was in and around the town of Mentone, not far from Pecos. The latest aftershock occurred Thanksgiving day.

There was a magnitude 4.5, followed five minutes later by a magnitude 4.9. "All earthquakes occur on faults. When that happens the faults are moving and the aftershocks are the faults settling back in shape after the main shock."

He says these aftershocks are on the "lower end of being able to cause damage if you're by the epicenter. By damage I mean items knocked from shelves. Maybe if you had some old plaster it could crack. Things of that nature."

The 5.4, by the way, the third biggest ever recorded in Texas.
