American, Southwest Airlines pilots warn of shortages if vaccine mandates enforced

With the busy holiday travel season on the horizon, the unions representing Southwest and American Airlines pilots are warning of major shortages if Coronavirus vaccine mandates are enforced.

The union for American's pilots sent a message to the White House and to leaders in Congress warning that air carriers may see "mass terminations of unvaccinated pilots" if federal vaccine mandates are in place.

The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association issued a similar warning.

Both unions suggest that pilots may simply take early retirement or go on long-term leave to avoid forced vaccinations.
