The largest traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is coming to Decatur March 29-April 2.
Local veteran Al Westfall, who fought in the Vietnam War, and is now Commander of the Wise County Veterans Group, helped get the display to Decatur.
"It is an 80% size of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which is in Washington D.C.," Commander Westfall says. "But this is for all veterans."
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute includes nine flags and travels with A Frames portraying statistics and information about all wars, conflicts, terrorist attacks including a special section for 911.
"It gives me the opportunity to visit classmates, old friends, and relatives who are on the wall," Commander Westfall says. "This has not been in Wise County. We're hoping for a good turnout."
Opening ceremonies are at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. And the wall will be open 24 hours a day through April 2.
