It's an upsetting sight for people in a small Collin County community.
Someone has been tossing plastic sandwich bags with fliers in front of homes in Lavon -- and these fliers are not enlightening.
"Basically, the flier was anti-Semitic," Lavon Police Chief J. Michael Jones tells KRLD news.
While the message of the fliers may be constitutionally protected, the method in spreading that message is not.
"Everybody thinks that handing this out is a crime. It's not," Chief Jones points out. "But throwing it in someone's driveway is littering, especially if people don't want this."
Jones says investigators have surveillance video of a possible suspect, and that person will be charged with littering if found to be the perpetrator.
Lavon is by no means the only community where this is happening.
"This appears to be a coordinated effort around the country," says Jones, "and we're just one of many in our area that these fliers have been dropped off at."
Jones says it saddens him that the stench of anti-Semitism has shown up on Lavon's doorstep.
"We certainly believe that there's value in every member of our community," Jones says, "and we want to protect every member of our community."
