The city of Arlington is closing all of its pools and splash pads after a sample may have detected a dangerous amoeba.
The city says there have been no infections, but it isn't taking any chances after a child who visited one of the parks died in 20-21. Bakari Williams died of a rare infection caused by the amoeba.
The city works with the EPA to collect samples and make sure the water is safe and got word Tuesday about the possibility the amoeba is in the water at a splash pad on California Lane.
The EPA is sending the sample off for more testing. However, the lab is in Florida so the results may be delayed because of Hurricane Idalia.
