ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - The honeymoon appears to be over for Arlington's first-year police chief.

The leaders of Arlington's two police unions will be addressing the city council this evening, presenting it with a vote of no-confidence against Police Chief Al Jones.

The unions are upset over what they say is a hasty decision by Chief Jones in October to fire Officer Robert Phillips for fatally shooting a man during a chase.

The two union heads say more than half of the city's 671 officers have signed on to the petition.

Jones was hired last November and has been on the job since January of this year.

A department spokesman says Jones has no comment on the petition.
