Parkland Heath is working to provide better health care to areas in the DFW that have a higher volume of Hispanic individuals or minorities. They are also working to assist neighborhoods where medical coverage is low and chronic diseases run high.

These new clinics provide education and familiar staff that can address illnesses in these communities such as diabetes, hypertention, and set appointments for mamorgrams and HIV screenings. Their goal is to teach these patients on how to prevent, treat and self manage these conditions.

On Ask the Expert, Teresita Oaks with Parkland Health joined the KRLD Afternoon News. She is the Director of Community Programs.

All month long, News Radio 1080 KRLD celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month.
