Ask the Expert: Should you consider a career in HVAC?

It could literally be the hottest job going this summer. There is never a good time for the air conditioning to go out, but when it happens and the temperature is 107 degrees, homeowners will do anything to get it fixed fast.

That's where the problem lies. There's a massive need for HVAC techs and not nearly enough people to fill those openings. The job can be very lucrative.

Dr. Stephen Pape, the associate dean for Construction Sciences at the Dallas College School of Manufacturing and Industrial Technology, joined Ask the Expert Tuesday to explain.
