Most Americans are looking at the COVID-19 crisis as not much of a crisis anymore. Only nine percent of the country says COVID is still a very serious situation.
A new study from Ipsos says three-quarters of Americans say it's turned into a "manageable problem. Around 16 percent say COVID is not a problem at all.
But public health experts say these attitudes could be a problem if we see another surge in cases.
On Ask The Expert, Dr. Joseph Chang, Chief Medical Officer at Parkland Hospital says we've already seen a new variant of COVID here in the Dallas- Fort Worth metroplex. He adds that of the few positive cases of COVID, the new variant has become the majority.
With the upcoming Easter holiday weekend, he is not overly concerned about seeing a spike in cases so as long as large gatherings are of people who are vaccinated. Young kids who are not however still pose to be the largest group of Americans most at risk of getting sick.
