Carrollton police are offering moral support to police in Dallas where a convict wearing an ankle monitor was arrested Saturday and charged in the deaths of two people shot at Dallas Methodist hospital.
Posted along with their own mugshot of suspect Nestor Hernandez, Carrollton police writes "our Street Crimes Unit identified, surveilled, and arrested Methodist Hospital shooter Nestor Hernandez on a full-extradition warrant out of the Austin Pardons and Parole Board four months ago. Four months ago."
Hernandez had been behind bars as recently as June when Carrollton police arrested him outside an apartment complex. Reports say he was arrested due to an outstanding warrant. Police say when he was put in the back of the patrol car, he slammed his head against the door making a dent. In a statement, Carrollton police say they were devastated that he didn't stay behind bars where he clearly belonged.
But Hernandez was out on bail at the time of the hospital shooting. The Carrollton PD tweet concludes with "We share your frustration @DPDChiefGarcia @DallasPD."
Hernandez was arrested and charged with capital murder after the shooting. According to police, he is currently on parole for aggravated robbery and was wearing an active ankle monitor at the time of the shooting.
