City council creates entity to lure businesses to Dallas

A new entity has been created in Dallas which aims to try to lure more businesses to the city.

In a unanimous vote, the City Council approved the creation of a new Economic Development Corporation. City council member Chad West says this will allow them to move faster in business recruitment by cutting through the red tape and bureaucracy that plagues a city department.

Dallas made a big play and lost out on Amazon’s HQ2 and a few other big businesses in recent years.

A board of directors could be hired in the next few months and an executive director in the spring.
