Dallas and Tarrant County COVID-19 deaths drop, vaccinations still key

Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Dallas recorded 102 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and just two more deaths from the disease. County Judge Clay Jenkins called it one of the least deadly weeks over the past year.

From Monday through Saturday there were 17 deaths from the virus in Dallas County, but Jenkins warned that more people still need to get vaccinated to keep the numbers down.

The overall death count from COVID-19 in Dallas County is now at 4,100 since the pandemic began.

Elsewhere, Tarrant County reported one death and 129 new cases on Saturday. The total death count in Tarrant County is now at just over 3,500 in total.

Statewide there were 2,000 new cases reported and 17 deaths from the virus bringing the total state death toll from COVID-19 to 51,000.
