The animal shelter in Dallas is running out of room for large and medium-sized dogs. They're putting out an appeal for people to step up and adopt dogs or serve as temporary foster families.
Dallas Animal Services put out a similar request just last month.
"We're so, so happy that the public came out and adopted more than 240 dogs," said Marlo Clingman with Dallas Animal Services. "We're pretty heart-broken that we're back in the same place we were just five weeks ago." The situation, she said, is "just due to the sheer volume of intake we're getting every single day...most of them are strays."
They currently have more than 375 dogs and are placing a priority on adopting out the larger animals.
Adoptions are free, and each animal is spayed or neutered and will be vaccinated and microchipped.
Dallas Animal Services is open for adoptions between 1:00pm and 7:00pm Monday through Friday and 11:00am until 6:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
People interested in adopting a pet can begin the process online atwww.BeDallas90.org before going to the shelter at 1818 North Westmoreland Road to complete the process in-person.
