With the Omicron variant spreading, Dallas County health officials are urging the public to get vaccinated.
Over the last few weeks, hospitalizations, new cases, and deaths are flat in the county. Health director Phillip Huang says there is still much to be learned about the new variant, but he remains confident in the effectiveness of the vaccine.
"The vaccines are extremely effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalizations, and death," Huang said. "We've seen also, even with the Delta variant, you could get [the] infection, and carry the virus, but you would not have [a] severe illness, hospitalizations, death."
He advises everyone to get vaccinated, boosted, and wear a mask, especially with the holidays upon us.
