Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Dallas County remains in the orange in the fight against COVID-19.
While the county is moving in the right direction County health director Phillip Huang says the county can't move into level green because the hospitalization rates remain above 5%. He says while the county is close more people need to get vaccinated.
Huang says that around 53% of the population that is 12 or older has gotten at least one dose. If you were to include those under 12-years-old then you are looking at around 44% of the population.
He says hospitalizations, infection rates and overall cases continue to decline.
However, Commissioner JJ Koch says the color-coding system is rather meaningless to the average citizen, describing it as an ineffective means of communicating whether or not caution is advised.
