Dallas-Fort Worth named the “least affordable” area in Texas

This is really discouraging news for anyone looking for a home in North Texas.

A recent ranking identified the Dallas-Fort Worth area as the “least affordable” area in the entire state of Texas.

The study, first published by KAMC in Lubbock, based their findings on a number of factors, including: housing, groceries, utilities, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous.

Based on those factors, Dallas-Fort Worth was found to be the most expensive area to live in Texas, with the average Cost of Living Index at 99.35.

The average Cost of Living Index across the entire country is 100.

According to the index, the cheapest place to live in Texas is the Brownsville-Harlingen area; the cost of living was 37% lower in Brownsville-Harlingen compared to Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington.
