It’s called Vision Zero and the goal is to eliminate traffic fatalities in Dallas.
It also aims to cut severe injuries in Dallas in half by 2030.
Kathryn Rush with the city says Dallas has the second highest traffic fatality rate among the nation’s top 15 cities, with only Jacksonville ranking higher.
Rush says they have already identified the most dangerous roads and have used a state grant to begin improvements. "8 percent of streets account for over 60% of fatal and injury crashes, " she says.
A task force has been created and will come up with a plan of action on how the city can tackle the problem. Their first meeting will be later this month.
