An unidentified group of Dallas investors is reportedly circulating a plan to try to buy back the Dallas Mavericks and is said to want to partner with Mark Cuban in that effort, according to NBA insiders reporting on developments this week.
The group’s interest was first disclosed Monday by veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein, who noted the partnership idea is tied to Cuban’s continued minority ownership of the team.
Cuban, who sold his majority stake in the Mavericks to Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont in late 2023, retained about 27 percent ownership after the transaction.
The Adelson/Dumont group now holds controlling interest and continues to operate the franchise, with sources telling Stein that the family remains focused on the team’s future under its current leadership.
The reported investor effort comes amid continued fan and media attention on Mavericks organizational moves since Cuban’s scaled-back role, including high-profile trades and front office changes that have shaped Dallas’s direction on and off the court.
