The process of replacing longtime superintendent Michael Hinojosa has already been a bit bumpy. The board initially planned to use two search firms for the job. One has since dropped out, according to reports.

The current timeline puts the board on a path to name a finalist in May with the official vote for a new leader in the second week of June.

The district is expected to host town halls to hear from community members about what they're looking for in the next leader. The board is also expected to circulate an online survey.

DISD has to stay on track given the competition for superintendents because several North Texas districts, including nearby Fort Worth, are searching for a new leader after a wave of resignations and retirements.
