A Dallas man has admitted to using a chunk of concrete to murder his 87-year-old next-door neighbor.
87-year-old Anita Thompson was a neighborhood fixture. Her daughter says she never would have imagined her neighbor, 59-year-old Andre Buggs, would be her killer. The two had been neighbors for more than 50 years.
Police think Buggs was on drugs when he bludgeoned Thompson to death last year. Thompson's daughter, Oletha Morrow, says on July 4th, just days before the murder, someone had tried to kick in her mother's back door. Thompson called the police. But Morrow says when her mother later said she didn't want an officer they didn't send one.
Morrow is relieved that Buggs will serve a 42-year prison term and that the plea means there's no need to put her family through a trial.
