The City of Dallas' Office of Emergency Management is working with several non-profit agencies to provide help for people who lived at the Highland Hills Apartments. An explosion last week destroyed or damaged dozens of units at the complex. About 250 tenants were displaced.

Many of those people have been staying at hotels, with a large number concentrated at one hotel in downtown Dallas.

In order to make it easier for them to get access to some of the services they need, Dallas has set up a multi-agency resource center at the Jonsson Central Library downtown. It will be open today from 11:00am until 7:00pm. It will include staffers or volunteers that can help displaced residents replace documents they lost in the explosion or provide guidance on options for ending their lease.

"While District 8 residents of the Highland Hills Apartments are staying in downtown Dallas hotels, this Multi-Agency Resource Center will allow them to address their unmet needs as One Dallas," said Councilman Tennell Atkins. "Our partners are available together in one place to help tenants displaced from Highland Hills Apartments prepare to return home."
