Could a Canadian law help with soaring home prices in North Texas?

A new study shows that median home prices in North Texas jumped 22 percent year over year in March, leading many potential buyers to get priced out of the market.

Experts say home prices are up 20% over last year while inventory is down 30%.

Many homeowners have been getting sticker shock when they see their property tax appraisals.

Now the Dallas city council is working on the issue. The housing committee is looking at a move Canada made.

"Canada restricts how many foreign investors can come into your market and buy up your real estate," said David Noguera, the Dallas director of housing.

That plan is only a suggestion however and would need a new state law in Austin to get accomplished.
