Two VA locations in Texas will get funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Veterans Affairs Major Medical Facility Authorization Act recently signed into law by President Biden. The bill was co-sponsored by Democratic Congressman Colin Allred of Dallas and Republican Congressman Jake Ellzey of Waxahachie.
The Dallas VA is in the process of improving its current treatment facility for veterans with spinal cord injuries to become a long-term treatment facility. It will offer a residential setting for veterans with complex medical problems that require specialized treatment and equipment.
"Investing in VA medical facilities in Texas and across the country is a common-sense thing we can do to ensure our veterans get the best quality health care in their community while strengthening local economies," said Congressman Allred. "I thank Congressman Ellzey for working with me on this legislation and I am so proud our bipartisan bill was signed into law by President Biden."
The VA in El Paso will also get $150 million for a new health care center.
