Earlier this week, Plano city leaders discussed the idea of a new DART line with members of the Regional Transportation Council.
"We're moving pretty quickly with regard to any and all opportunities to gain consensus with an extension of that rail line," Michael Morris, director of transportation for the council said.
If built, officials say the line could connect Plano to McKinney either by an extension of DART’s Red Line or by extending the Silver Line - which is still under construction.
The proposed line would be 18 miles long and is estimated to cost between $700 million and $900 million.
