Travel between Dec. 17 and Jan. 3 will reach 95% of the level around Christmas and New Year's in 2019, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport officials say. The airport says it expects 3.6 million people to pass through.

Officials urged people to arrive for domestic flights two hours early and to arrive three hours before international flights.

Thursday morning, most security checkpoints reported wait times of less than 10 minutes. Some passengers arriving from cities on the East Coast said they had short waits where they started as well.

"No long lines. It was good," one man arriving from Miami said.

"We got through TSA in, like, less than 15 minutes," a man coming from JFK Airport in New York said.

Many said they felt confident traveling despite the spread of the omicron variant. They said they have become accustoed to wearing a mask and trying to avoid crowds at the airport.

"These days, I don't even know what normal is," the man arriving from New York said. "It's been a while. You could actually say this is more normal."

DFW Airport urged people to download its app or visit its website where travelers can see wait times at all security checkpoints. Wait times are listed at each checkpoint as well at neighboring checkpoints.

The airport said passengers could also use the app to check on flight status and order food.
