Paul McCartney played his first show in Fort Worth since 1976 Tuesday night, making his only stop in Texas on his "Got Back" tour. McCartney last played in Texas with Wings.

"It feels so great to be back. In fact, it’s so cool I’m going to take a moment now just to drink it all in for myself," McCartney said after taking the stage at Dickies Arena.

Almost 13,000 people attended, but as soon as the show was over, the arena started work to get ready for the last five rounds of the PBR World Finals.

Dickies Arena hosted the first three rounds of the PBR World Finals last weekend. After the third round Sunday, General Manager Matt Homan says crews started to reconfigure seating for the concert and remove 750 tons of dirt.

"Our team will be working hard to transform this space from PBR to Paul McCartney back to PBR," he says.

Dickies Arena opened in November of 2019 with a Twenty One Pilots concert.

"This arena was designed and built for an array of incredible events for the citizens of Fort Worth. Dickies Arena takes the title of 'multipurpose' to heart," Homan says. "We host the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, basketball, gymnastics, lacrosse, boxing and family shows along with hosting some of the best artists and entertainers in the world."

Dickies Arena held the first two rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in March and the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Finals in April.

Crews are now moving the dirt back into place for the PBR World Finals to resume with Round 4 Thursday evening. Events around the PBR World Finals are taking place across Fort Worth through Sunday, including Ultimate Freestyle Bullfighting, Bulls Gone Wild, the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo, Women's Rodeo World Championship and PBR World Finals Concert Series.

Visit Fort Worth says 70,000 people will attend and says the PBR World Finals will have a $30 million impact on the local economy.
