Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki's number 41 is now hanging in the rafters at American Airlines Center where his number was retired in ceremonies last night.

The packed house was ready to cheer at every mention of Dirk's name, honoring his 21 years wearing a Dallas Mavericks uniform.
When it was his turn, Dirk thanked the fans and Mark Cuban, who made sure Dirk would not leave in free agency in 2010. The next year, the team won if's first and only NBA championship.
Seven of Dirk's former teammates from the championship team were also on hand last night.

The banner with Nowitzki’s number 41 was hoisted into the rafters to join those of fellow Mavs greats Derek Harper, Rolando Blackman and Brad Davis.
And the Mavs won the game last night, beating Golden State 99-82.
