As the hot weather continues to ravage Texas, The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is once again asking the public to conserve energy where possible on Wednesday between 2-9 p.m.
ERCOT recommends following the Public Utility Commission's advice on conserving energy which "include turning up your thermostat a degree or two, if comfortable, and postponing running major appliances or pool pumps during the requested timeframe."
Factors driving the need for this important action by customers:
ERCOT says that their request to conserve power comes as a result of a record high electric demand, the low wind dropping generation, forced thermal outages, and solar generation dropping due to cloud cover.
As of midday Wednesday, no system-wide power outages are expected per ERCOT.
