The FBI is now looking into the massive data loss suffered at the Dallas Police department.

Police chief Eddie Garcia reached out to the FBI and they agreed to take a look at the losses.

A total of 22 terabytes were accidentally deleted by a former IT employee from the city of Dallas. The files were believed to have been deleted during a data migration process in the spring.

Last month Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot said about 14 terabytes of data were recovered, but eight terabytes were gone for good.
Another 15 terabytes were found to be missing following a Dallas Police audit.

The deleted files were believed to be data archived before July 2020.

North Texas lawyers say the lost data could jeopardize court cases.
