Former Dallas Cowboys' running back Marion Barber was found dead by Frisco Police in his residence on Wednesday.
The Cowboys confirmed the news of his passing in a statement posted on their Twitter account.
At this time, it's unclear how Barber passed away. He was just 38 years old.
A fourth-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Minnesota, Barber became known for his power running style during a career that lasted seven seasons. Barber average 4.1 yards per carry, while rushing for 4,780 yards and 53 touchdowns as a member of the Cowboys and Chicago Bears.
He played seven years in the NFL, including six for the Cowboys, between 2005 and 2011.
He had recently been going through legal and financial troubles.
In April he was sentenced to 12 months probation after being arrested on multiple outstanding warrants.
