The family of a Fort Worth apartment maintenance man who was murdered last week is pleading to have the suspect's bail increased.

On Friday, police reports say Carlos Aybar was gunned down at The Marq on West Seventh, an apartment complex in the Fort Worth Cultural District.

Police have arrested a man identified as Devin Smith who is up on a murder charge and whose bail was set at $150,000.

A lawyer for Aybar's family calls that figure ridiculous because, "all he has to do is come up with $15,000 and he gets to walk out and walk free."

Even in murder cases, the accused needs to post only ten percent of the bail to be released.
