A Fort Worth police officer's off-duty conduct has cost him his job.

The department has fired Cpl. Marshall Meyer for what it says were his actions while vacationing in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, last October.

It says Meyer left the scene of an accident and discharged a weapon where prohibited.

It also said he was involved in an incident involving intoxication, but it didn't make clear whether that happened at the same time as the crash or the firing of the weapon.

Meyer was a 14-year veteran of the force.

"Cpl. Meyer’s off-duty conduct was not in keeping with the high standards expected of a Fort Worth police officer," a department statement said, "and unjustly reflects upon the rest of our officers who maintain those standards every day and work hard to ensure the safety of our community."
