Fort Worth police are releasing security video concerning a police officer who was sacked two weeks ago for lying about his use of force while working an off-duty security assignment.

On January 13th, Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes fired officer Jose Salazar after his commanders determined that he used greater force than necessary and that he was untruthful in the reporting of this incident.

The incident was caught on video at a bar in the West 7th entertainment district.

Police say Salazar was in uniform but off duty, working a side security gig. Internal investigators accused Salazar of lying about the level of force he used against a man outside the bar.

Salazar's body camera was not activated but investigators obtained security video from the parking lot which they say contradicts Salazar's story.

That video, released by Fort Worth police shows the officer push the man from behind, knocking him to the ground. When the man gets up, the officer identified as Salazar punches him in the face, again knocking him to the ground. Then the officer puts the man in handcuffs.
