Summer is almost here, but despite rising temperatures some aren’t quite ready to jump in the pool yet. Usually Memorial Day weekend is the kick off to pool season for many, but this year the Fort Worth Zoo decided to start things a little early. The zoo went viral this week after sharing video of their baby elephant takings its first swim, officially kicking off pool season.

Groundhog Day is supposed to be about Punxsutawney Phil telling the world when spring is starting each year. Now there is a new way of finding out when summer begins; when Brazos the elephant decides to take a swim. The Fort Worth Zoo shared a video of its baby elephants' first swim this week, claiming he has officially moved on from the baby pool.

“He’s sticking to the shallow end for now, but it’s only a matter of time before he takes the plunge!” the zoo captioned the now-viral video. According to CW33, the elephant is now seven months old and weighs more than 700 pounds. Hopefully by the end of summer Brazos is ready for the deep end.
