The City of Fort Worth says in preparation for possible high call volume during an arctic blast, it's tripling its incoming call center lines to 250 and expanding operations beyond just phone calls, with customers being able to report a water main breaks on the MyFW App. The water utility has also obtained propane heaters to thaw key pieces of outdoor equipment.
The city is currently in the process of replacing 800 miles of cast iron water lines, and it is now accelerating that effort.
