
Crews from the Frisco Fire Department are heading to the Texas Panhandle to help combat wildfires.

The department says they were requested to attend as a part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. They have sent "one strike team leader/vehicle and four firefighters on a Type III engine." They will be joined in Amarillo by crews from Dallas, Little Elm, Lewisville, and Flower Mound.
The crews left on Friday evening and will be receiving their assignment from the Texas A&M Forest Service. The department says they could be deployed for up to a week.
