The Zoo is beyond proud to announce the births of four critically endangered Gharial crocodiles. The little crocs are native to South Asia and are fish eaters.

They are known for their long, narrow snouts. Their births are the first in the Fort Worth Zoo's 114-year history and only the second birth of Gharial crocodiles in U.S. history.

The babies are not on display yet...and have not been named. The zoo currently has four adult Gharial crocodiles: one male and three females. There are only about 35 altogether in zoos across the county, and only about 200 adults are estimated to be in the wild.

Ft Worth Zoo considers the birth of the four babies as a major conservation success.
