FWPD launches latest CCPD grant program

The Fort Worth Police Department is launching its next grant program and is inviting tax-exempt nonprofit organizations to apply.

Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes says the grants are designed to allow nonprofits to establish crime prevention and safety programs throughout the city.

Chief Noakes says examples of crime prevention programs are, "Bringing people together to influence change, provide resources or create social support. Providing programming that offers positive alternatives that increase the potential for individuals to make positive choices."

Examples of safety programs include, "Community awareness and education by facilitating safe environments, or by helping people process past trauma."

501(c)(3) organizations or people who work with them can apply for either a development grant or a program grant.

"Development grants help eligible agencies with planning and strategic development that improves their agency," says Chief Noakes. "Program grants help eligible agencies to deliver programming that improves the community."

Development grants allow access of up to $50,000 for 12-month projects, while program grants allow for access of up to $300,000 for 36-month projects.

Funding for these grant programs comes from the Crime Control and Prevention District.

"Since 2021, CCPD has awarded over $3.1 million to community-based programs," says Noakes.

Applications are accepted year-round until July 8th, 2024, and both grants offer flexible rolling deadlines.

Agencies approved for grants are required to attend mandatory training, held quarterly. They can also receive up to eight hours of assistance from a trained Grant Navigator.
