The Dallas Zoo has a new baby giraffe and she was born on the fourth of July.
Sunday, the zoo's reticulated giraffe Chrystal gave birth to a healthy baby girl who is five-and-a-half feet high and who weighed in at a svelte 105 pounds.
This is Chrystal's third calf so caretakers think she's "an expert mom."
Mother and baby are said to be doing fine and will be kept out of public sight for awhile to allow them to bond.
There's no name yet. An announcement will be made once that happens and once she's ready to make her debut in the zoo's Giants of the Savanna habitat.
