On Monday afternoon, a grassfire in Balch Springs set at least nine homes alight.

According to NBCDFW, the fire started on the northwest corner of Interstate 20 and South Belt Line Road. From there it reached fences and eventually homes in the 14000 block of Bell Manor Court.

They say that the Balch Springs fire marshal Shawn Davis has requested that those living in Bell Manor and nearby Broadview Drive to evacuate. 14 structures have reportedly suffered damage.

NBCDFW's Brian Curtis has also reported that per Davis, the fire "appears to have been started by workers using mowing equipment."

There have been no reported injuries.

The Balch Springs Recreation Center will be open and available for those seeking refuge, due to the recent grass fire incident.
