FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- Gulfstream has finished construction on its maintenance facility at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth. The company started the project in 2020.

The 160,000 square foot facility cost $35 million and includes 80,000 square feet of hangar space, 44,000 square feet of shop space and 32,000 square feet of offices. The project complements Gulfstream's existing facility at Love Field in Dallas.

"We're investing in technology, modernization and continuous improvement to ensure we have an uncompromised fleet and safety record each and every day," says Gulfstream President Mark Burns.

The area around Alliance has more open space for potential future expansion. Burns says Texas' population growth makes the state one of the company's fastest growing markets.

"These airplanes travel around the world, but we're seeing more and more airplanes based here in the central section of the U.S.," he says.

"I really appreciate what you do from a safety aspect and what you're delivering for the customer," says Congressman Michael Burgess, who represents the area around Alliance. "It is absolutely critical. I've watched this area grow. I've watched this can-do spirit Hillwood has brought to the area."

Gulfstream says the project will add 50 new jobs at Alliance. In addition, up to 200 people who work at Love Field will be moved to Alliance. Burns says Gulfstream is also working with Tarrant County College to train students so they are prepared to work at the facility.

The facility is powered by renewable energy.

"The opening of this facility is part of a long-term strategic plan we have had to build modern service centers, sustainable service centers for the next generation of Gulfstream airplanes," Burns says.
