The Harris County medical examiner now confirms that a missing Houston boy's death was a homicide.
Last week, five-year-old Samuel Olson's body was found in a Jasper motel room. Investigators determined Samuel's body was hidden in a storage unit before being moved to the motel.
He was reported missing on May 27th but police believe he died weeks before that.
The girlfriend of Samuel's father has been charged with tampering with a human corpse.
Police believe Theresa Raye Balboa was on her way to Louisiana with the body when she was discovered at the motel.
Samuel's father and mother were going through a divorce. It's not clear how Balboa came into possession of Samuel's body.
She has not been charged with his death.
Friends have organized a GoFundMe page on behalf of Samuel's mother to help pay for burial expenses.
