DFW Airport is open Friday morning, but even so, plenty of flights have already been canceled. The same is the case at Dallas Love Field.
DFW International Airport was under a ground stop but that was lifted late Thursday night. Early Thursday, the runways were closed because of the ice, but once they were treated, some flights began departing and arriving around mid-day. Later, the ground stop was reimposed and was not lifted for hours.

Even with airport operations back in business, American Airlines said it was halting all of its flights because of icy conditions at its ramps. Thursday, American Airlines canceled nearly 1,500 flights at DFW Airport and more than 5,000 flights nationwide.
As for Friday, more than 500 American flights were canceled, about evenly divided between arriving and departing. Thursday, Southwest Airlines canceled 1,000 flights both at Love Field and at its main hubs domestic and international.
Friday morning, Love Field had nearly 50 outgoing flights canceled and more than 40 incoming flights.
