One of the two men arrested for the murder of a star Allen High School athlete two years ago has pleaded guilty to a murder charge. Kemond Smith, 18 of Forney, was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Smith took part in the murder of Marquel Ellis, 16, a promising wide receiver on the Allen Eagle football team.

Smith and codefendant Christian Hill crashed a party of 20 to 30 teenagers at a rental house in Plano in Nov. 2019, court records show. Others at the party pushed the two outside.
One of the two “started randomly shooting gunfire into the residence, ultimately striking a 16-year old from Allen,” Officer David Tilley said at the time.
Police arrested Smith and Hill for murder. Hill’s case is still pending.
