An off-duty Euless Police Detective was killed in a traffic accident overnight. A man suspected of having been intoxicated has been arrested and will face charges.

According to NBCDFW, police say 26-year-old Dylan Molina ran a red light and hit the car being driven by Detective Alejandro Cervantes. It happened at Boat Club Road and Rocky Point Trail in Lake Worth.

The detective died at the scene, a woman and two children in the car were all taken to the hospital.

Molina's been charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.

Authorities say Cervantes had been with the Euless Police Department for almost seven years. Before that he worked eight years with the El Paso Police Department.
